Digital transformation across a statewide health and community care provider

Context

A statewide health and community care provider required digital platform transformation across its home-based care services — the largest revenue stream in the organisation. The engagement expanded from an initial enterprise imaging uplift into two further programmes.

Challenge

The home care platform programme required coordinated implementation of six enterprise systems across 17,000 staff and 28,000 clients. Separately, a virtual hospital initiative had stalled and needed a health check and recovery path, including the design of new clinical care models.

Intervention

Led implementation teams across six enterprise systems spanning clinical, workforce, risk, and financial platforms. Managed implementation waves across the statewide workforce. Conducted a health check of the virtual hospital project and developed recovery options including governance for establishing new clinical care models. Acted as GM of Digital Platforms during executive medical leave.

Outcome

Statewide platform transformation delivered across all three programmes. C-suite engagement throughout, reporting directly to the GM of Digital Platforms and engaging with the Board on the virtual hospital recovery.

Recovery and delivery of a maternal fetal medicine imaging system across two hospitals

Context

A major hospital network required a specialist sonography medical imaging system for maternal fetal medicine services across two hospital sites. The project had been running for two years with limited progress.

Challenge

The project lacked structured delivery planning, training, and a clear path to go-live. Requirements documentation was incomplete, UAT had not been planned, and stakeholder confidence was low after two years without delivery.

Intervention

Picked up the project mid-delivery and drove it to completion. Backfilled requirements with detailed clinical workflows, planned and scheduled UAT, developed training plans and communication strategies, led the Change Advisory Board process, and oversaw vendor defect resolution. Integrated the system with existing radiology and clinical platforms.

Outcome

Delivered a complex integrated maternity medical imaging system across both hospital sites within approximately five months of engagement. Collaborated directly with Directors of Medical Imaging, the lead clinician for Maternal Fetal Medicine, and the Chief Digital Health Officer.

Recovery and delivery of a $5.2M clinical system and facilities upgrade for a specialist paediatric service

Context

A specialist children's health service required replacement of legacy clinical platforms with modern systems, combined with a facilities upgrade across six clinical rooms. The project had been assessed as RED after two years of minimal progress.

Challenge

The project involved coordinating six vendors across software, hardware, audiovisual, and facilities, while maintaining full continuity of clinical services. The delivery structure, governance, and team needed rebuilding from the ground up.

Intervention

Rebuilt governance and delivery structure. Assembled and led a nine-person multidisciplinary team. Coordinated six vendors under Statements of Work. Managed HL7 integration for patient demographics. Oversaw a comprehensive training programme for 65 clinical staff. Directed compliance activities including ISRAP, Architectural Standards Committee reviews, and Gate 4 Assurance.

Outcome

Recovered the project from RED to GREEN within one quarter. Delivered go-live with zero unplanned downtime while maintaining full clinical service continuity. Transitioned Phase 1 to operations within revised budget and schedule, with a clear roadmap for subsequent phases.
